EVENING DINING · MERCHANT CITY, GLASGOW

Steak and Seafood in Glasgow's Most Atmospheric Dining Room

As the candles are lit, the room draws in closer. Saints of Ingram is a steak and seafood restaurant on Ingram Street, set on the ground floor of Hutchesons’ Hall in Glasgow’s Merchant City. Prime cuts from the grill, fresh west coast seafood and seasonal plates, served from five o’clock in one of the city’s most atmospheric dining rooms.

THE EVENING MENU

Three ways through the evening.

The evening menu moves from the grill to the coast and into the garden. Prime Scottish steak, fresh seafood landed off the west coast, and seasonal vegetable and vegan plates – three ways through an evening in the Merchant City, served in a room built for it.

THE GRILL

Grill

Prime Scottish beef from the grill: an 8oz fillet, a 10oz sirloin, lamb rump, and maple-glazed barbecue short rib. Grilled with the kind of restraint that lets good Scottish produce speak for itself, and finished with sauces and butters made in-house.

THE COAST

Sea

Fresh seafood landed off the Scottish west coast: west coast mussels, whole roasted lobster, langoustines, baked monkfish and native oysters served natural or with Tabasco. Brought into the room with the same care as the grill.

THE GARDEN

Garden

A genuine third strand, not an afterthought. Seasonal vegetable and vegan plates, from ratatouille to charred gem lettuce and gochujang sweet potato, alongside sides built to share. Vegetarian and vegan diners are properly looked after here.

Served in the evening, from 5pm.

THE BAR

A drink before, a drink after, a drink for its own sake.

The bar holds the room together. Classics poured with precision, a rotating list of house cocktails, low-intervention wines and a deep shelf of whisky worth lingering over. One of the more characterful spots to drink in Glasgow city centre. Pull up before dinner, settle in after, or skip the table altogether and make an evening of the bar alone.

THE ROOM AT NIGHT

A David Hamilton building, an intimate room within it.

The restaurant sits on the ground floor of Hutchesons’ Hall, designed by the architect David Hamilton and built in 1802. It is one of Glasgow’s great Georgian buildings and is Category A listed, a piece of the Merchant City’s history you can book a table inside. The dining room is the intimate heart of it: candlelight, conversation and carefully served food. Intimate without feeling small, historic without feeling still.

After dark, the room draws closer. Timber panels, soft lighting and the original architectural detail of a two-hundred-year-old room create a setting made for long dinners and evenings that feel quietly special, a few minutes’ walk from George Square in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City.

“A candlelit room with two hundred years behind it.”

Ground floor, 158 Ingram Street, Merchant City.
